About IESBJ

International Embedded Society By Just_Grassy

Our Mission

IESBJ is a personal open-access academic journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in embedded systems, hardware design, firmware development, and low-level software engineering. Founded by Just_Grassy, IESBJ exists to make technical research freely accessible to everyone — students, hobbyists, professionals, and researchers alike.

We believe that knowledge should not be locked behind paywalls or institutional barriers. Every paper published on IESBJ is available for free, in perpetuity, to anyone in the world.

IESBJ focuses particularly on the intersection of embedded systems with other fields: IoT, real-time operating systems (RTOS), bare-metal programming, FPGA design, hardware security, and the growing world of AI at the edge.

Call for Papers

IESBJ accepts submissions year-round. We welcome original research on all aspects of embedded systems, from bare-metal microcontroller programming to full hardware/software co-design. There is no publication fee and no page limit.

Submission Guidelines

Accepted Format

PDF (.pdf)
Compiled from the official IESBJ LaTeX template

All submissions must use the official IESBJ LaTeX template. Submissions in other formats will not be accepted.

File Size

Maximum file size is 20 MB per file. This applies to both the primary file and any translation attachments.

Multilingual Submissions

Authors are encouraged to submit translations of their papers to reach wider audiences. Translations can be added alongside the primary (English) submission. The site currently supports any language code — common options include Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Arabic.

All primary submissions must be in English. Translations are supplementary.

Originality & Rights

By submitting a paper, you confirm that it is your original work and that you grant IESBJ a non-exclusive license to publish it openly. You retain full copyright over your work. Papers previously published elsewhere are welcome — please disclose the original venue during submission.

Review Process

IESBJ is currently operated by a single editor (Just_Grassy) with support from community reviewers. All submissions undergo editorial review for relevance, technical soundness, and originality before publication.

The review process is editorial rather than double-blind peer review, reflecting the personal nature of this journal. Authors can expect a decision within 4 weeks of submission.

  1. 1.Submit your paper using the submission form.
  2. 2.The editor reviews for relevance, quality, and appropriateness.
  3. 3.If approved, your paper is assigned a DOI-style identifier and published immediately.
  4. 4.If rejected, an editor note explains the reason.

Archive

All published papers are permanently available in the IESBJ archive, grouped by volume and issue. Papers without a volume/issue assignment appear under “Uncategorized”.

How to Cite

Every published paper includes a BibTeX citation block on its detail page. You can copy it directly with the “Copy BibTeX” button. The citation uses the paper's DOI-style identifier (e.g., IESBJ-2025-001) as the citation key.

@article{iesbj2025001, title = {Your Paper Title}, author = {Author Name}, journal = {International Embedded Society By Just\_Grassy (IESBJ)}, year = {2025}, note = {IESBJ-2025-001}, url = {https://iesbj.example.com/papers/...} }
